Ecommerce logistics for businesses

Posti helps online retailers manage their ecommerce logistics. With warehouses in Sweden and Norway, we deliver to customers worldwide. We keep your entire ecommerce logistics flow connected, from inbound delivery to returns. We have years of experience helping businesses outsource their logistics, from small, growing online retailers to international brands such as Samsung.

All your e-commerce logistics in one place

Every e-commerce order passes through several stages. Managing each stage in-house requires warehouse space, staff, systems and shipping agreements. If you want to avoid in-house investment and administration, you can outsource your entire e-commerce logistics operation to Posti:

  • Inbound delivery: we receive goods arriving by road, air or rail

  • Goods receipt inspection: every delivery is checked and any discrepancies are reported

  • Warehousing: your products are stored in our warehouses in Sweden and Norway

  • Flammable goods: aerosols, gases and flammable liquids are stored in separate areas with fire protection that meets regulatory requirements

  • Order flow: new orders are sent to the warehouse through an integration with your business system

  • Picking and packing: every order is picked and packed in suitable packaging to reduce unnecessary empty space in the parcel

  • Shipping documents: freight waybills and labels are created as part of the booking flow

  • Shipping: we ship parcels with tracking to consumers and businesses

  • Customs: we handle customs declarations for shipments to Norway and other countries outside the EU

  • Returns: returned products are collected, inspected and put back into stock so they can be sold again

  • Ongoing improvement: we regularly review inventory, orders and returns, using data and KPIs to improve the flow

If you want to keep some logistics activities in-house, we can take over individual stages. You can read more about the warehouse flow under fulfillment. If you also sell to retailers and other businesses, you can find a complete solution under third-party logistics.

Returns in hours, not weeks

In a traditional returns process, it can take weeks for a returned product to go back on sale. During that time, the product loses value and may become unsellable. Together with the recommerce company Renow we reduce that time to just a few hours.

The biggest time saving comes from an AI-based inspection system that our employees use when checking returns at the warehouse. Even if your inventory is stored elsewhere, you can still use the solution by asking customers to send their returns to us.

E-commerce deliveries worldwide

Your deliveries reach customers in 190 countries through our international partner network. Parcels to Finland and the Baltics travel through our own operations from start to finish. In Finland, we have the country’s most extensive distribution network. In the Baltics, we deliver to consumers under the SmartPosti brand. We handle larger B2B shipments and international pallet freight as your freight forwarder. We also have our own warehouse in Norway. Orders shipped from there reach your Norwegian customers without crossing the customs border between Sweden and Norway. For deliveries from Sweden, we handle customs clearance on both sides of the border.

Warehousing and logistics experience across the Nordics

Posti has been developing logistics for 400 years, from postal operations in Finland in the 1600s to today’s comprehensive logistics solutions for businesses. We are the market leader in warehousing and logistics services in Finland. We draw on that expertise in Sweden when helping online retailers manage their logistics.

Frequently asked questions about ecommerce logistics

Ecommerce logistics covers every stage that moves products from an online store to the customer and back: inbound delivery, warehousing, picking and packing, shipping and returns. Posti manages the entire chain for online retailers, with warehouses in Sweden and Norway.

Fulfillment refers to the warehouse work for each individual order: picking, packing and dispatch. Ecommerce logistics also covers the wider operation around the order, such as online store integration, capacity during campaign periods and cross-border deliveries.

A WMS, or warehouse management system, is software that manages warehouse operations. It keeps track of each product’s location, current stock levels and which orders need to be picked.

Yes. Posti connects your online store and order management system to the warehouse, either directly or through your business system. New orders then reach the warehouse without manual steps.

Omnichannel means that a business sells through several connected channels, such as an online store, physical shops and marketplaces. From a logistics perspective, omnichannel sales require a shared inventory view.

Yes. Posti plans warehouse space, staffing and shipping capacity around expected order peaks for Black Friday, the Christmas shopping season and post-Christmas sales. Our fulfillment centres cover more than 250,000 m², and our warehouse staffing provides more than one million working hours per year.

At Posti’s warehouses, employees inspect returns using Renow’s AI-based inspection system, allowing products to go back on sale within a few hours. The same stage can take weeks in a traditional returns process. The solution is available in Sweden and Norway.

Yes. We deliver to Finland and the Baltics through our own operations, and to 190 countries through our international partner network. Norway is outside the EU customs union, and we handle customs clearance on both sides of the border.

The cost depends on which stages Posti takes over and the scale of each stage: the warehouse space your products require, the number of orders per month, volume increases during campaign periods and the destination countries. Because you pay for warehouse capacity according to use, the cost follows your sales throughout the year. Tell us about your ecommerce operation in the quote form to receive a proposal.
