Packaging solutions for businesses

Posti develops packaging solutions for businesses, from cardboard and plastic packaging to robust wooden packaging and custom-built solutions for goods weighing up to 40 tonnes. We pack goods in our own facilities or on-site at your location, handle dangerous goods in accordance with ADR and IATA regulations, and certify export packaging according to the international ISPM 15 standard. The right packaging material protects your goods, reduces damage and lowers freight costs.

Types of packaging solutions – cardboard, wood and custom designs

Different goods require different materials. We work with cardboard packaging, wooden packaging and custom packaging solutions. We always select materials based on the weight, sensitivity and destination of the shipment.

Cardboard packaging

Cardboard is ideal for lightweight and medium-weight goods and is often the most cost-effective option. We design cardboard packaging to match the contents precisely. The right size and quality protect the goods without making you pay freight charges for unnecessary volume.

Wooden packaging

Wood is ideal for heavy and oversized goods such as machinery and industrial components. We build wooden packaging tailored to the weight and shape of the goods. For exports outside the EU, the wood is treated and marked in accordance with ISPM 15 standards.

Custom packaging

When standard formats are not suitable, we design custom packaging from the ground up. This can range from fragile items such as artwork and antiques to industrial equipment weighing up to 40 tonnes. We often combine materials, such as wooden structures with shock absorption and moisture protection, to meet specific transportation requirements.

Tailored packaging solutions

Packaging is rarely the entire requirement. We take responsibility for the whole process, from design and sizing through to storage and repacking.

  • Packaging design: customised packaging for goods that cannot use standard solutions

  • Artwork packaging: purpose-built protection for paintings, artwork and fragile items

  • Packaging and product storage: storage, repacking and preparation for transport or export

Dangerous Goods Packaging According to ADR and IATA

Dangerous goods require approved packaging, correct labelling and complete documentation. We package goods according to ADR regulations for road transport and IATA regulations for air freight, supporting you throughout the entire process.

  • Classification: we identify which regulations apply to your goods

  • Approved packaging: packaging that meets the requirements for the goods' hazard class

  • Certified packing: carried out in accordance with applicable safety requirements

  • Labelling and documentation: correctly labelled and documented for approved transport

Certified Wooden Packaging for Export Outside the EU

If you export goods in wooden packaging to destinations outside the EU, the wood must be treated and marked according to ISPM 15. This international standard prevents harmful pests from spreading through packaging timber. Unmarked wooden packaging may be stopped at customs, repacked, treated or rejected at the destination, at your expense.

We ensure your export packaging meets requirements from the start, including heat-treated timber, correct IPPC marking and packaging approved for the destination country.

The Value of Choosing the Right Packaging

Packaging may represent a small cost, but it influences several much larger ones. Incorrect packaging can lead to transport damage, claims and unnecessary freight charges. The right packaging ensures goods arrive ready for sale or use, freight costs are based on the product rather than wasted volume, and packing processes become more efficient throughout the supply chain. It also creates predictable costs, whether you send one shipment or one hundred.
