What is fulfillment?
Fulfillment, or order fulfillment, is the part of the logistics chain that begins when an order is placed and ends when the goods are delivered or returned. With Posti, you can outsource the whole process or only the parts you prefer not to manage yourself. This may be because volumes fluctuate too much, or because you would rather focus your time on sales.
A typical solution includes:
Inbound handling: we receive goods by road, air or rail
Warehousing: goods are stored and checked, and inventory balances are monitored continuously
Order fulfillment: orders are received, prioritised and prepared for picking
Picking and packing: goods are picked and packed using packaging suited to the shipment
Shipping: shipments are prepared for dispatch and transported to the recipient
Returns handling: returns are received, checked and returned to inventory
How it works
Tell us about your product range and order volumes. We need to understand what you sell, the volumes involved and where your customers are. This allows us to calculate the space and staffing required.
We create a solution. We recommend a warehouse location, operating flow and pricing model. Together, we also decide what you will outsource and what you will keep in-house.
Set-up and move-in. We connect the systems and move the goods into the warehouse. The flow is tested before operations go live.
Ongoing operations. We review the flow continuously and optimise inventory where and when it makes a difference. We use warehouse management systems (WMS) that connect to your enterprise resource planning system.
Returns handling and reverse logistics
We manage the returns flow from collection to restocking. Goods in good condition are returned to inventory and can be sold again. The rest are sorted according to your rules. You decide how the returns flow should work and what should happen to goods that cannot be resold. We tailor the process to your needs. The same system manages outbound deliveries and returns, keeping inventory balances accurate in both directions.
Warehousing and logistics in the Nordics
We operate six warehouses in the Nordics: Arlanda, Borås, Jönköping, Nykvarn and Skillingaryd in Sweden, plus one in Norway. Together, they provide more than 250,000 square metres of space. The right warehouse for your business depends on where your recipients are, how often you ship and what your product range requires. If your customers are spread across several regions, inventory can also be divided between locations.

Storage of flammable goods
Flammable goods require separate storage areas and fire protection that meet regulatory requirements, which means not every warehouse can accept them. Several of our sites are designed for this type of handling. Skillingaryd is one example: the warehouse has two chambers, horizontal barriers and in-rack sprinklers in the pallet racking.
